A mid-summer kayaking trip to "Goat Island" in Halifax's Long Lake Provincial Park.  Starting from the paddling launch area with its small parking lot and paddleboard/kayak rentals.  An easy 20-minute (1.2km) paddle to Goat Island, the first of 2 island destinations on the Lake.  Wild cranberry bushes, rock outcrops, sand beach and a sheltered clearing in the center of the island provide plenty of areas to relax and explore.  A perfect summer paddling destination without leaving the city.
