5 Autumn Vibe Hiking & Biking Trails In Halifax, NS<\/h2>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Never rely solely on your phone for navigation and always carry a compass<\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s wise to carry an extra<\/a> bat<\/a>tery<\/a> and a printed map<\/a> as well.\u00a0 Fall is hunting season, so be visible by wearing hunter’s orange<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sandy Lake Park<\/a>\u00a0(Hiking)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Sandy Lake Park in Bedford is a popular swimming spot in summer, and off-leash dog walking park in the off-season.\u00a0 In Autumn it comes alive as the forested trails create a vibrant array of colour as diverse as the foliage.\u00a0 With <\/i>old-growth trees<\/a> mixed in, it’s an urban nature experience that amateur arborists will appreciate.\u00a0 The trail is mostly rugged and unmarked.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Reaching Sandy Lake you’ll be treated to bands of <\/i>colour\u00a0surrounding its shores<\/a>.\u00a0 A great spot for a <\/i>picnic,<\/a> the beach area is an ideal place to spend some relaxation time.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Next, you’ll head into the woods as the trail becomes more narrow and rugged.\u00a0 A quiet, shady environment full of squirrels preparing for the long winter to come.\u00a0 This stretch is under 1km and a gradual uphill slope.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0My favourite part about this hike is when you come out of the dense forest and onto the <\/i>power line trail<\/a>.\u00a0 The moment you step out of the woods you’ll enter into a colourful vista fit for painting.\u00a0 This part of the trail can be quite wet and muddy so proper footwear is a must.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Turning 90\u00b0 off of the powerline trail onto a narrower version, you’ll walk a corridor of colour\u00a0as you head downhill back towards the park.\u00a0 Many birds inhabit this area, including Osprey who fish the lake.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0You’ll veer off the power line trail and head into the woods again for a short stretch before meeting up with the main road leading the <\/i>parking lot<\/a> which is a scenic area in itself.<\/p>\n
