\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Located at the West end of\u00a0Colpitt Lake<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0<\/span>Backlands<\/span><\/a>, Keith spends his days watching\u00a0<\/span>O<\/span><\/a>sprey<\/span><\/a> and more than 40 species of migratory birds who visit this area exclusively.\u00a0\u00a0 Some of Keith\u2019s oldest <\/i> ancestors<\/a> live on the Northeast side of the lake and may well be over a century old.\u00a0 This is no small feat when living in an area that sees regular wildfires, but Keith\u2019s brethren are well adapted to this\u00a0<\/span>fire ecology<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Many different uniquely adapted plants such as the\u00a0<\/span>Broom Crowberry<\/span><\/a> abound in this pine barren landscape. Surrounded by massive <\/i> granite boulders<\/a>, Keith bears witness to remnants of a 200 million-year-old supercontinent known as <\/span>Gondwana<\/span><\/a>. The largest fragment of Gondwana exists from here through Nova Scotia\u2019s south shore, known as\u00a0<\/span>Meguma<\/span><\/a>.
