Trail Summary

· Good Riverside trail.

· Lots of room to explore.

· Not marked, and no parking lot.

The trail head, off of Wooden’s River Road is unsuspecting and parking is minimal.  You can drive up the dirt road as far as you dare, but it is best to leave your car near the entrance.  The trail follows Wooden’s river, but you don’t get a good view of the river for 10 or 15 minutes.  The main road turns into a V and you are best to veer left, to the right a bridge takes you to some paths that run by a  cabin and likely end abruptly.  There are a couple of  old self made bridges that you can stand on to get a good view of the river.  The river itself is quite nice and substantial in size.  Nothing is marked and it is up to you to pick your own way around, but it is a great spot for a little adventure if you are in the St. Margaret’s Bay Area.

I was recently informed that the wooden’s river trail system is actually quite extensive and follows along the river. I hope to get out to it again some time soon to do some further exploring. It is apparently also a popular (regulated) fly fishing destination. Click the “more info” button for more information.
