Trail Summary |
|
MacDonald sports park in Waverly, has 7 miles of lakefront walking trails. Located by the Cheema Aquatic Club, the area is great for lots of outdoor activities. The trail system goes as far as connecting to Fall River, but you can choose various trails of shorter distances. The trails have numerous picnic tables along the way, including a large, covered picnic area near the trail head. It is well maintained and makes for easy walking/biking. The trails are ideal for a leisurely lakeside walk with some time out for a picnic. Biking would be another ideal activity, especially if you bring your swim trunks for a dip after you’re done. As noted by numerous signs; dogs are not allowed, as this is quite a nice nature reserve and great care has been put in to ensure that the habitat is not disturbed. You’ll see lots of different plants and animals along this trail, and a good portion of the 130 acres of land is old growth forest.
The area is used by local groups such as girl guides and boy scouts, and there are plans for a future baseball diamond , an all purpose sports field and a paint ball facility. |
